This picture reminds me very much of an art installation in Washington State above the Columbia River not far from the homestead where I grew up. There the silhouettes of running horses are set along the ridge far above the highway. I took this picture near dusk as a stallion fought for a mare in his band. I learned today that the horse he didn't want to give up was his three year old daughter and it was time for her to move on. Thanks for looking!

I could picture that as a cast iron lawn ornament.

Great photo!

In these here parts we would cut them out of 1/4" rusty steel and weld them to the top of our ranch gate !
(closest I will get to that is ranch dressing).

really nice shot, I like it.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I'd like to see the highlights (darkish mid-tones, actually) on the horse's heads and chests brought up just a little bit. Its clear you're going for a silhouette and all, but the detail is there, and it seems a waste to lose it.

You are absolutely right I think. I have to admit that I haven’t yet learned how to lighten just certain areas or I would have done that. And actually, I wasn’t going for the silhouette, this is sort of a happy accident. (They say confession is good for the soul.)

All I need is a laser cutter! Thanks!

There's umpteen dozen different ways to bring up (or down) select portions/tones in an image, and though I'd have done it very differently in Photoshop, since you have Lightroom, here's something for you to try: use the radial gradient tool. The attached --I hope you don't mind-- screen shot might assist. If you'd like a more thorough walk-through, don't hesitate to ask.

I’ll give it a try tomorrow. I guess I could go into Photoshop. I have even less knowledge there!

That’s the same thought I had when I saw it. I grew up about ten miles from there on the rpD to Royal City. Thanks.
