Both my D850 and D500 inexplicably are resetting the plus or minus master exposure without my wishing to do so. Anyone else having this problem?? Nikon so far is stumped.
Are you using Easy Exposure Compensation? custom Setting b4). There's an option in there for On (Auto Reset) that will do just what you describe.
Hope that's it - not sure otherwise!

I did that on purpose and didn't like it.

My son’s D7100 is doing the same. I will have him check his menu
thanks. great idea...but no it's off
I've thought that somehow it could be related to an incomplete bracket sequence. I do use bracketing and sometimes this happens but I don't really see the direct connect...

Hate to say it, but if two different cameras are having same problem, it is likely user error. Are you sure you aren't confusing the EC button for a different function?
I understand Mike. The plus and minus is a singular very noticeable button. No confusion there. If there's some other button that also does what this one is for, then yes thats a poss.
My thought is that there's an arcane glitch in Nikon's software, the basic software that's used for a whole range of cameras. It is certainly possible that I trigger this glitch by using my camera(s) in a particular way that probably most people don't. Why I brought up the bracketing idea. Of course if I knew what that was, I'd stop or change...or Nikon would tweak their software. So I was sorta hoping there might be some others out there who've seen the same...
Just to say, the adjustment the camera has made, that to me is on its own, is up to 4 stops...but more usually between one and two stops.
