Has anyone tried the "Lightning Bug." One of my compadres with CNPA sent me an email telling me I had to get this product that it does what it says.

Is there anyone using this? If so, how are your results? like many of you, I often head out for a trip only to find foul weather when I get there......I would like to be able to shoot DAYTIME LIGHTNING, heretofore, all I get it wet.

I haven't used a trigger (have found one with good reviews yet) but have had some success capturing lightening using long exposures. I used manual mode, a 6-8 second exposure, f8-f11, ISO 100, and keep taking shots until lightening strikes. Adjust exposure as necessary. Repeat as long as you want and its safe. Then delete all the dark shots. This obviously works best when strikes are often. During the day I've used a ND filter to allow for long exposures.

What brand are you using?.......I went ahead and ordered the "Lightning Bug" from Hunts, on special for 159.00. I probably jumped to soon...but the "bug" did get some good review from some fellow photog friends.

You have been helpful. My wife and I recently purchased a log cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains....we are 3300 feet up and have a great view of Spartanburg 20 miles away......we have a number of summer thunderstorms, daily......I plan on spending several days a week there during the summers and hopefully will be able to get some of those storms.

View of Spartanburg from back porch - hope to get some lightning

I have some BR Mountain pics but not of this place, we just bought it...as in this month. They are scattered around several sites I manage but I have a few on the Guild website,

If there is foliage or waterfalls, they are from the BR Mountains....the rest or California, Yosemite, or New England coast.

Check out the "Lightning Trigger" at http://www.lightningtrigger.com/ . I have had one for years and never a problem. Daytime shots are no problem.

I have already ordered the Bug......but I have enjoyed reading stuff on his site. I am told I will not regret using the bug, time will tell.

Thanks for your help!
