Did a search and the posts that showed up were pretty old. Been using The Gimp and Paintshop Pro for most of my limited needs, but been hearing good things about Affinity lately and am thinking about plunking down the 50 bucks for it.
Panorama and focus stitching alone would be worth the price, if it's any good.
Here is an example of a stitched pano and one of HDR stack using Affinity (don't have one of a focus stack yet). I really like the program and it does every thing I need and then some, but I am not a super power user like some of the Hogs who will give you a negative eval since they are PS users. I do wish it had a library of it's own. I keep all my photos in "Photos" on my Mac computer.
I use Affinity Photo all the time and is my goto over Paintshop Pro

A very recent thread: "Affinity Photo" (

Thanks, guys-- looks like I'll be buying it.
I've been using it for about five months, and absolutely love it! I tried a slew of others before settling. How can you not, when you only spend about $60, as I understand it have just about everything that the big boys have, have as many tutorials as you could possibly want or need and never have to pay a monthly charge. It doesn't get any better than that and, even though I'm still learning (will be for quite awhile), my results have been pretty darn good, even if I do say so myself. I think you'll really enjoy Affinity!
A few thoughts to add here: I've used PS.CS5 for years, and began using PS back in 2005? I've learned so very much. THAT SAID, I'm studying Affinity, and even bought their hard bound book. The instructions there are excellent. Why would I consider using Affinity? Because my TZ80 pocket camera's RAW files cannot be opened in CS5, I use Affinity to do that. I am so very impressed with Affinity. I plan to continue studying it this fall and just may switch to it totally. It is an excellent program, and I recommend it to everyone.
You've done an excellent job on both photos. I especially like #1. Can I buy a large print of it? I see it hanging above my desk in my office.

May I ask which book you purchased?
Of course you may ask. AFFINITY PHOTO WORK BOOK, ISBN-13 978-1-909581-05-0. I bought my from Amazon, and it's currently $49.00. I think it is worth every penny.

Seems like a good program, it is a "photoshop-look-a-like." I think most of the programs on the market today are good, it's generally the user who needs to work on their skills and knowledge of the program that cause issues in processing.

For strictly raw shooters it falls well behind the more pro oriented packages like Lightroom/Photoshop, DXO Photolab Elite and Capture One. Even the inexpensive mid-range software package, ON1 Photo RAW, is much better in that regard. Affinity is a good choice for those who are not dedicated raw shooters.

As competent as Affinity may be, it is not in the same league as the "big boys" and is missing significant raw processing features that pros and advanced amateurs demand. It is also missing or has dumbed down versions of non raw tools that the pro software includes. It's toolset is designed for the amateur consumer market. Nothing wrong with that. It may be the best PP solution for many people.
I'm commenting because people often have a misconception of the relative value of more expensive professional level post processing software versus inexpensive consumer software. It would be a mistake to assume that post processing software programs are equal, or even close to it, because a superficial review of the feature sets look similar. The devil, as they say, is in the details.
It's worth the money easily.have fun.
