I've seen pictures of people picking those things up. I also know of a guy I dove with that picked up a sea snake, pulled the tail of a moray, and picked of Lionfish. Go figure.

I don't think I would dive with him any more. Bad ideas.

I was in Guam years ago when I was in the Merchant Marine. One of the third mates, an experienced diver, took me diving and the first thing he did was go to a library and find out what was living in the local waters. It was quite an experience. There were these stonefish and lionfish, also very venomous, as well as some sharks. The reef was spectacular. Fortunately most of these critters are not agressive.
The south pacific is the best. Have to get all the diving in while it, and I, last.
