Today, I wanted to utilize some older images and try out some new profiles that I have uploaded to Lightroom CC Classic. Utilizing my keyword search I found the images that I was looking for. However, there were only a few images and they were either Tiff or PSD. I wonder what happened. Did they get misplaced or when I had transferred the images to a larger hard drive did they not transfer. I decided to try an easy option and right-click on the folder and then click synchronize. Behold, the images were in the folder but not synchronize to Lightroom. I click synchronize in the missing images appeared. Thank God.

You could have also used your computer's operating system to locate the missing files - search by date created, file extension, name, drive, etc. Then direct Lightroom to their location.

Software very rarely performs malicious actions, it is usually a result of user input. The problem is, how do you remember what you did to make it happen?

For copying or moving files, I always use TeraCopy (windows) with verify turned on and the "more" option selected. I can see what is happening, and verify does a CRC comparison on each file. Any error is noted and the copying continues. Free version is on every computer I own and have used it for a decade. E.g. after copying photos from sd card to HDD, I then import into Lightroom. Same for when I copy photos to external hard drive.
