The Church Lady asked me to take a photo, so I did.

I have a church that adjoins my property that will celebrating it's 200th anniversary next month. We attend this church and my wife sometimes plays the piano. Some of the women got together and made a quilt to celebrate the event. The church lady asked me to photograph it.

Thanks. The church ladies made this shot a bit difficult for me. They hung it in a winding stair well. The light was dim and there was not a place for me to stand where I could look straight on at it. Fortunitly I had a Sigma 35 f/1.4 FF DG lens that let take a sharp focused photo in dim light. I used DxO PhotoLab and it's perspective tools to make it look like it was taken straight on. I used PS to bring back some detail in the stained glass window that was totally blown out.

They have not seen it yet. I'm sure they will like when they see it on my iPhone at Church tomorrow. They tell me that they are going to have prints made from this image.

Dave Great job capturing it under less than ideal conditions. If they are going to make prints of this, can I suggest you crop out the window and lower baseboards and put it against a black backdrop so they can get 4 x 6 prints.

Good idea! I'll ask them what their plans are.

BTW, the print as it is, is already 4 by 6.

Being a visual guy, the window and moulding distracts from the beauty of the quilt

Unbeknownst to me, my wife was photographing me while I was taking the photo of the quilt. You can see how the railing prevents me from getting in front of the quilt. Post processing and perspective tools in DxO saved the day.

Here is another "alot" which is a non word. "A" and "lot" are two (2) SEPARATE words. There is NO SUCH word as "alot". The confusion comes (I suspect) from "allot" which does not mean "much" or "many", but means to parcel out or pay in installments. You make an allotment to pay for your house insurance which may be a lot of money.

Or maybe they failed to press the space key hard enough between the "a" and "lot". This is a farm community with a lot of skilled people.

If you'd like the colors more true, and have Photoshop, use the "Curves" to first "Auto" the values, then the gray (middle) dropper on a supposedly white, shaded area.

Interesting, maybe that's what I should have done. I just played with it until it looked good on my screen. These ladies are not going to be that critical. I already gave them the JPG image on a flash drive and watched them hand it over to the guy who going to publish in a magazine of some sort. God only knows how the colors will shift from here. I did it for free; it's now out of my control.
