A day or so ago an ad popped up on my facebook page for Canon cameras at a major discount - the one I bit on was a Canon Rebel T7i for $69+ ending up at $82.50 - not a full kit but camera, 18-55 lens & 12GB card - OK - it looks like I have to spend another $25 for batteries and charger.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I just did a google search and came up with https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/eos-rebel-t7i-body-digital-slr?searchTerm=t7i . Body only is $699. I think you've been had. The fact that they charged extra for the battery & charger which should have come in the factory package is a good indication.

Bill I have a large kit of Canon Rebel "stuff" I have 3 of them XT, XTi and T3i So I am truly just after the body - "IF" the lens is an IS then I'll be way ahead - I recently acquired a Tamron 18-200 with IS
I just sent of a reply to their email confirmation of order and ask for a delivery date...…. hope I hear from them - if not I'm calling the bank.

I have a Toll Bridge I can sell you for a mere hundred bucks. You keep saying you are comfortable because of the Canon store email confirmation Just check the Email address real careful and you will find it comes from a weird .com address and not from Canon.

I've been seeing that ad on Facebook for several days along with a separate ad showing gas generators for peanuts on the dollar. I have been commenting "SCAM" on each of them and keep trying to report the ads to Facebook as scams, but the options button to report just keeps spinning. Interesting that the "report" button works on other posts. Facebook should be ashamed for allowing this to continue. Like others here have said, who in their right mind would think they can buy $1000 cameras for less than $100?

After looking at that website, my guess is that this is a phishing scam for identity theft. Even if you get your money back they have a lot of information on you now. Watch whatever method of payment you used carefully for any other charges. And depending on what information you gave them they could have enough to set up fake accounts in your name. I hope I am wrong. But they have gone through a lot of effort to only get a small fraction of what the camera is worth. I suspect they have another motive.
