Took a trip to the dark side and well the light side too. Processed in ACR (Lightroom) then into Silver Effects Pro.
I love a good storm, whether I'm shooting it or just watching or even in it. I like this shot too. I think you have captured some of the drama that a storm brings to mind. When looking critically, it is a little grainy and the contrast may be a little too high as is visible when you look at the tops of the trees. Maybe more luminance to reduce the noise? Framing, I might have put the silo more to one side of the picture even though it is not dead center now, I would have put it more off center, maybe on a third if that would work for the storm. I guess I'm wondering if it was on the right third, what the storm looks like more to the right.

Point taken on the contrast and top of trees. The noise is actually what Silver Effects Pro calls "structure" and is somewhat extreme but I think it works in this case. I have played with luminance, highlights, shadows etc. but it seemed to pull the photo into the run of the mill style. Trees to the left and right did not allow for any real lateral movement. I greatly appreciate your critique.

I appreciate your comment but this shot is in the critique section. Care to elaborate?

What a cool shot. 👍
Noise does not often work unless it is a period piece. The image is really interesting starting on the left side of the tree near the barn. The action is all on the right side of the image. I think it could have been cropped a little on the left, top and just a very little on the foreground. I would have reduced the noise. The movement in the image is the semi-circular portion of the cloud above the barn and house. That is what draws my attention.
Excellent composition. Although the clouds dominate, the farm takes up exactly the right amount of space. The farm (blogs) is really just a small part of the larger farm, and yet the center of activity. The wide angle gives a great sense of the expanses in farm country, both in the heavens and on the earth. B&W is the only medium to fully convey the emotions of this photograph....only b&w can display the contrast in the clouds, for one thing. For anybody who has spent time in the the farm country of Kansas and other areas of the midwest, this photo is emotionally evocative.

Thanks Steve, much appreciated.
Just browsing around, kinda late to this party. I’d like to see it with the farmstead further left. That would show more of the circular cloud above and add to the drama. It looks a little too much like a snapshot where you just centered the barn. As my hero Nightski told me long ago: take time to “work the scene.” Don’t be content with your first view.

Hi, big guy,
You have handled both the tonal range and tonal spectrum well!
The fore and middle ground with highlights of the roof and silo, and strong #hadows against well lit mid -tones emphasize 5he sun coming in under the advancing, darker, roiling cloud front.
Impact:4
Tech. 4.5
Comp 3.5
total:12/15
Strong image of a moment in the progress of 5he advancing storm!

I like the image a lot. Especially the horizontal layers at the bottom. To emphasize that, I took it into LR and tried a couple of things that I ended up enjoying. 1. Cropped out the bits of foliage at the bottom of the frame. 2. Leveled it out a little in the transform tab.
Plus, I took out the little smidge of white cloud just up and to the right of the silo. It's a tad distracting, to me.
I like the grain. Did you use any of the film effects in Silver Efex Pro?
