For those of you looking to save a buck or two, I just bought the Benro GH2 Gimbal with quick release plate & mount on Ebay. Instead of the $350 on Amazon and other sellers, I paid $236.17, shipping included, and received it from China in a week. The Benro is not 100% perfect but it's close enough that I don't mind. It mounted up on my heavy Bogen 3040 and I took a number of shots with it this past Saturday night with no problems. That's a small sample size but it appears that the mount is sturdy enough for my D7100 & the Tamron 160-600mm without complaining. The only thing that looks like a potential problem area is that the 3 set screws in the swivel base might be rounded off a little internally and would be difficult to remove if I needed to service the bearing area. Hopefully that won't be an issue and if I run into any problems, I'll update the post.
