Who Has Been Sleeping In My Bed

I came in from doing chores the other day to find my best friend, right hand man, and all around helper on the bed where he wasn't supposed to be, and he brought a friend. The little scamp!

He had also remade the bed to his liking

That's too funny. He has the look in his eye like he knows he has been caught. After bathing and grooming my standard poodle I went around the house looking for her because she usually followed me closely. (She passed away last March.) It was late at night and dark in the house. I went to her favorite spots to search for her. At night, she usually sleeps on the floor next to my bed on her blanket. I was backing out of the bedroom after having checked it, when I noticed the whites of her eyes. It never dawned on me to look higher or look on my bed. She was watching me as I was looking for her because she knew she wasn't supposed to be on the bed. She also had a tendency to take advantage of the opportunity to get in my bed after being bathed or groomed. Not sure if it was because my bed was warmer or she had other motivations for doing so. Although, I do suspect she may have felt colder with the sudden reduction of her coat.

No, Jake is a pure bred Jack Russell Terrier. He goes with me everywhere. In the small town were I live everyone knows Jake. Being everyone's best friend is his job description, and he takes it seriously.
He lives happily on our small farm with our two English Shepherds, 7 cattle, two geese, three ducks, a dozen chickens, and a couple of pigs.

You must live a wonderful life. The description of Jake and your small farm made me smile. It sounds as if it comes from a children's story.

He's a doll. I'm surprised he hadn't burrowed under the covers. That's where my Jack Russell would have been.

We have a rescue rat terrier and people are always confusing him with a jack (parsons) russell terrier. Sorry to do the same thing to you. Rat terriers are like jack russells on valium.

Well I have nothing against him on the bed other than he runs around the farm all day playing and rolling in "I don't want to know what" as well as digging and other activities his profession demands. With the above activities in mind you can see why him in the bed is not too appealing.
He does have his own little bed that he drags all over the house depending on where he decides is the "perfect spot" at the time, along with the bed he brings all his toys it is quite the operation.

Well I don't take any offense at that and I know Jake doesn't, he knows what he is and that is all that counts. Jake is quite mellow for a Jack Russell, my wife got him for me and used P.A.T. test results to pick him. In years past she bred and showed companion dogs and has extensive experience with dogs, I just love them.

She got in your bed... cause it had YOUR SMELL in it. If 10 people were lined up behind a curtain and only their shoes showed beneath it.... and YOUR doggie was to come and pick YOU out of that line up she/he couldnt see.... she would go directly to YOUR shoes. That's her comfort zone... her owner!!!! So that's why she was in YOUR bed is cause it had your odor on those sheets.
