I have a Sony A77ii and considering the Sony 100mm and the Tamron sp90 lens. Look for opinions and/or recommendations
Thanks

John, to answer your question, I need to know what type of photography are you planning to do?
I am starting to get into shooting models, portraits also I like shooting flowers. I have a Tamron 150-600mm, 70-200mm and the Sony 16-50mm.

Flowers are easy they don’t move much. Models are harder they move and also have attitude which you must direct and adapt to. Portraits are in between. I find it interesting that you don’t mention the max aperture, f-stop rating, of the lenses you own or are considering. Lens max Aperture is a very significant parameter.
My suggestion is you spend some time shooting with and learning the limits/strengths/weaknesses of the lenses you currently own. Then you will be in a better place to decide for yourself, what to spend your money on next.

Both are f/2.8
And the lenses you are considering?
Here is some food for thought. Lenses can be rented from local camera stores and via on-line vendors. Nothing is better than trying out the lens you are thinking of buying.
There is an old saying about lenses: “camera bodies come an go but find a lens you love and keep it forever”.
My $0.02 is spend time to get to know your existing lenses. Know what you want to be better before buying new lenses. Choose carefully any new additions. And try before buying.

Thanks for your advice.
You are welcome.
Most important of all, have fun.
Saw the title of this post and got really excited! “I’ve got plenty of those” I said to myself. Then I read the details☹️

I have some Tamron lenses and don't see any difference in performance from my Nikon lenses. The prices were much lower than the similar Nikon lens. I'm sure there are differences if hi-tech testing was done but for my use not important.
I have Both lenses for my Sony a6000 and Sony a7RII, I find the Tamron much easier to shoot and faster auto focus and image IQ about the same.
A shot with the Tamron I shot last week. Shot wide open f/2.8
Thanks for your reply. Great Shot.

They are both very good and about equal.
But if I were you and for what you are wanting, I would go on ebay and get a Sigma 50-150 2.8 and a small extension tube or Canon 500D close up lens for the front - so you can do close-ups and all the other things you want with great versatility. - And, yes, I have an A77II.
