Which eye do you use to focus and why, just wondering?

The right eye...because, I am blind in my left eye.

I’m right handed and use my left eye - never really thought about it. Just the most natural. I also slalom skied with my left foot forward. In water skiing they termed that “goofy foot”. I’ve been in construction 50 years and I can cut paint trim with my left or right hand and hammer with my left when I have to. I guess it’s what the individual feels most natural doing, unless you have a vision impedement in one eye. I also wear glasses and never take them off to look thru the view finder.

Right eye because it is my dominant one. Barring blindness, injury, etc. everyone has a dominant eye, kind of like left or right-handed.

Look at a subject about 20 meters away with your hand up. Close on eye and then the other. The eye which when closed makes your thumb move is your dominant eye. Generally, that eye has the best vision.

I am also a right-hand/left-eye person. Although, when I was required to use a firearm, I would use the right eye for a long gun and the left for a handgun. (In the film days, I would carry around an unused GEPE slide mount to help me frame a shot. Since my left eye interprets a scene just a tad "warmer" than the right, I would call it my "kodachrome" eye, and my right the "ektachrome" eye. They're still a tad different, and occasionally I use it to help me decide the color balance I might want of a scene.)

My right eye! Strangely enough, I never thought about this, as to the physioloical reason for this in terms of sides of the brain or my right-handedness. I think I was a south paw at birth but my grandmother forced me to favor my right hand. Something about devils and superstition???. In the first grade at school, I began to read backward and reverse all of my letters- probably a bit of dyslexia, thanks to Grandma! No problem- boot camp and close order drills fixed that! Marching orders and all that kinda thing! Nothing like a DI yelling in your ear to cure any neurological issued.

Nowadays, I am kinda ambidextrous, a bit of a switch hitter but I still shoot with my right eye to the viewfinder. Oh...when I need to, I can shoot with both eyes open!

Left eye for camera because it's the better eye.
