Great video. Can't believe I've never seen it before.
Agreed except he wasn't on 7/2/56 @ Newport, RI. The story of him playing his 27 chorus solo into the wrong microphone is classic.
As I'll be heading to Newport for the Jazz Festival again this summer a conversation / sharing about the best way to shoot pix might be worthwhile.

Doesn't say if this was on Ken Burn's Jazz documentary but I saw it there too.
I grew up with his son Renell, who was a great drummer in his own right.
