Adobe problem or my problem?

Just finished setting up my new computer from purchased used parts.
Asus motherboard,
AMD 8 core processor
16gb ddr3 Ram
1tb SSd for programs
2tb HDD for storage
Can't remember the exact graphics card, but it was on the list of supported graphics cards. I just remember GTX "something" 4gb graphic card.
Win10 pro. (legal copy, verified when I set it up)

Anyway, I went to the Adobe site and got rid of the old computer from my profile, so I can put it on the new box. I keep getting errors when trying to download the CC program. I looked at the adobe boards, and see that some people have the same issue, but so far, no real answers. I did find a link to download the programs individually, but I liked the old way of having the app tell me when there are upgrades available. Well, when I tried to download photoshop, it said approximate download time 6 days 16 hours and so many minutes. That's just for the photoshop part!

So, seeing that my wireless "could possibly" be the issue, I hooked directly into my modem, and still get the same result. All other programs load and run fine. I can stream Netflix, so speed shouldn't be that big of an issue. I have 100 mbs internet speed, (when tested, it's not really 100mb download speed, but still.... 6 and a half days!?!?

So, does anyone have any ideas that I haven't thought of?

Thanks
Bob

Bob, you might try one, or more, of these suggestions.

Thanks, I'll surely look into doing these things. I'm not sure that the slow part is on my side, based on the Adobe boards, what's frustrating is that I didn't have speed issues with downloading updates on my laptop. Not sure if it's a motherboard incompatibility or what, because other things have been blazingly fast.

That being said, I'm happy to do whatever I can to keep things as fast as possible, so thanks for the links

Try it. See what happens. After 5 minutes of actually dl'ing, that estimate will probably ge a lot shorter and then actually finish in a reasonable period of time.

That's my WAG.

Good luck!

Thanks for this link. I disabled a lot of apps for which I have no interest.

I have had the same general issue with my HP. I called the Adobe support and after hours of patient troubleshooting they got it to download. The program frequently "fails to respond" and again, Adobe support has patiently spent hours finding errant code and restoring LR to operating order. If their support hadn't been as responsive I would have ditched PS and LR by now.

Did you disable your old version (necessary), before deleting it from your old machine?

Having spent over 12 hours and multiple days on the phone and remote support with Adobe troubleshooting similar issues I can tell you three things that screwed up the *direct communication* with Adobe website’s ability to provide updates, sign ins, etc.:

Norton Antivirus
Firewalls
Proxy servers

Thanks
I haven't loaded Norton yet, still have Defender on it, but the firewall and defender are both shut off for trying to do this download. (I had read that before)

I'm not sure about proxy servers. I should probably look into that.

As it is, after each 1%, I get a "failed" message, and a button to retry. 90% of the time, when I hit the button, it gives me an error, saying unable to connect to Adobe servers. The once out of every 10+ times that I don't get the message, it says "installing" then once it goes up 1% again, I get another message. Tonight's my anniversary, and I'm out of town for the weekend, so it looks like another LOOOONG call with Adobe.

It's frustrating, because I've not had any issues with stability before. I was all excited to finally have an updated computer so it didn't take so long to catch up when doing certain tasks.... and now I can't even load it.

I hate calling support, but it will probably be the next step. I've been an adobe person, since before photoshop was numbered. It was just "photoshop" Not quite ready to give up yet, but I sure am frustrated. That's why I want to make sure that the problem isn't me.

Every single other program works quickly and flawlessly, that's what led me to believe that the issue isn't on my end.

Well, I did. No luck. I'm actually on day 3.

Thanks, though.

I note this wording in your post: "setting up my new computer from purchased used parts."

Not sure if anybody mentioned that these parts, maybe, could together or individually produce an incompatibility or an error-like condition to the download protocol for Adobe software?

Over the years, I have downloaded Adobe software with no hitches, but always to a computer designed, assembled, and configured by the manufacturer.

Just saying.

Oh, I get it, but I had a guy who has built computers for 30 years helping me pick the parts and pieces.

Why would all other programs load fine, but adobe have issues? I'm wondering if the recent upgrades have overloaded their servers.

Woohoo, special thanks to fotobyferg! Turned off all the proxy stuff that was automatically turned on by Win10 installation. Immediately, the issue cleared up, and I got the entire suite loaded and even imported some photos to LRCC Classic in less than an hour.
