Crepe Myrtle

There are 3 different colors of Crepe Myrtles, but there are also some hybrids, and this in one of those. I hope you enjoy and please Download for the best viewing. Comments welcome.

Shot with a Nikon D500 with a 16-80 Nikkor lens at 70mm. F11, 1/125 and ISO 160.

Never seen those before...they are beautiful! After planting 3 times, I finally got two bushes established....they are deep dark red and are better suited for the Texas Panhandle weather...they are blooming now..

Thanks for the comment Stevey. The dark red ones are pretty common here too. They are used a lot to beautify roadways. There are also white ones and pink/lavendar also. I have been babying this one for years.

The Crepe Myrtles in my area of So. Calif. suffered from the recent record heat. They had just started blooming. Now most have only faded flowers after 4 days of 100+ weather.

They are sensitive to heat and drought. It has been raining every day here so that takes care of the water, and if you keep a few inches of mulch on them, it will keep the roots from getting burned. They are worth the effort though.

Don't really have one myself. Just a fairly common tree in area for street and shopping areas.

very pretty shot...I love the color, jan. I like crepe myrtles...the deer don't eat them!
