I nominate the rhino poachers in S. Afrika who forgot about large predators while on foot in the field. They have deservedly been made incapable of accepting the award that they surely have won.
We see lots of candidates for Darwin Awards (standing on a ladder resting on cinder blocks stacked in wheelbarrows, etc.) but the rhino hunters are obvious WINNERS. Because the prize for winning the award is - NOT SURVIVING. Which they obviously did, and so richly deserved.

They didn't just fail to survive. They failed so badly that it could not be determined how many there were. They had to estimate based on the number of gloves found.

The rhinos should band together and develop a plan to get those poachers. A little education wouldn't help, either. There is nothing magic about a rhino horn, yet ignorant people keep killing rhinos to get them.
Are the people would want these rhino horns also among the so called ignorant?
Not only ignorant, they are stupid as they undoubtedly know it doesn't work as intended and, yet, there are products (one starting with V) that actually work right out there on the market for a lot less money than horn.
For Pete's sake, didn't these three clowns know it is illegal to feed the animals???

Good grief, I never though of that. I do hope they were ticketed...

Not quite, it was the pride of lions that ate the poachers. That may be a new way to control poaching in game preserves, though - keep some prides of hungry lions in the area where the elephants and rhinos roam.
Don't forget the several poachers who were shot and killed by "Armed Game Rangers" during the same period. Maybe the word will get out that poaching private game reserves is not a wise thing to do.

Don't those rhinos know that eating people is not good for them?? Most people are sweet and they will get the runs. And you never want to be near their rear end if they get the runs.

It wasn't the rhinos that ate the people. They just acted as the bait to draw the poachers for the lions, or hyenas, or whatever ate them.
