AF Nikkor 24-50mm

Considering purchase of an oldr back up camera.
It comes with an AF Nikkor 24-50mm..manual focus .. when I mount it on my D750 I get an error “F ee”.
I assume it is an incompatibility issue ... is there a “work around” or is the lens hopeless on the D750?
Your advice / experience appreciated.

Set your lens to its highest F stop number, then turn the camera on. That should clear it up. Some lenses need to be set like this so the camera can read the full range of apertures. Hope this helps.

Your lens is an AF 24-50mm. If it is only manually focusing it's broken.

There is an indexing aperture, usually F22 or the smallest on the lens, that you need to set it to in order for it to report the apertures and avoid the Fee error.

The anecdotal review for this lens on this webpage is a must read:

There is a tiny "arrow-like" twisting switch on top of the aperture ring, after setting the aperture max number, let say f22 and then twist the tiny "arrow" one way or the other to lock the aperture, it will clear the "error" and will work with your D750. I have the same lens but a newer version Nikon 24-50mm f3.3-f4.5 AF-D, there is a sliding switch for this set up.

Rotate your aperture ring to the smallest opening.

Your user’s manual explains how to use that lens! You should be able to select to use either the aperture ring or sub-command dial for aperture control.
