This Lockheed Constellation is a permanent part of the Greenwood Lake New Jersey Airport. The airport is owned and
run by the State Of New Jersey's Department of Transportation with an FAA LId Number: 4N1. The plane
is no longer flyable since it is built into the Sky Training LLC building. I found it interesting since it was
the first aircraft that I ever flew on as a passenger. The airport is actually located in West Milford, NJ. which is used
for general aviation.
I was the first commercial plane I flew in as well. On my way to Fort Knox Army basic training.
Nice series of photos, I do wish they were downloadable so I could see them a little bigger. Grandpaw

I flew on one of these old birds (TWA) back in the early 60's going home
on leave from Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas. I believe it was around four
hours from Amarillo to Chicago where I changed planes. Ah, the good old days.
Never thought I'd want to go to NJ; but now I'd like to see that plane in person.
In 1955 I flew with my mother and brother from NY to London on one of these (TWA). Quite a few stops along the way - Goose Bay, Thule, and Shannon for sure. Elegant looking plane and I think the comfort, despite the vibrations, was far better than today. Thanks for sharing your photos.
An all time great prop plane from a great manufacturer. I flew on one from SC to PA and it was a super flight. My flight instructor flew a Connie after he progressed from instructing to flying for Eastern Airlines.

Great set of photos. There is an airworthy Lockheed Constellation at an air field on the North side of Interstate 4 near Lakeland airport (where Sun and Fun is held each year) just north east of Tampa, Fl. This field also supports Sun and Fun and has an old DC 2 or 3 sitting at the fence next to the highway with a dummy dressed as a pilot and had (for a long time) a parachute hanging over the front of the plane. They removed the parachute a few years ago because Florida HPD was getting too many calls about a crashed airplane...lol. Anyway this place had /has several vintage airplanes and was doing parties and stuff. Not sure of their current status. The museum at Lakeland has a great collection of vintage aircraft and a huge Howard Hughs exhibit.
I flew from Hawaii to San Fransisco to be discharged out of the Marine Corps., On one of these old birds.
Semper Fi,

Nice shots, she is a beauty. I flew in the military version many times out of NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii, where they flew the "barrier" on patrol during the Cold War.
Great pics. Wonderful memories! Have flown in them many many times.
Great pictures and great memories Grandpaw.

A most beautiful aircraft, flying before computers. I once saw it take off from an airport where I have forgotten but in my youth.
Its flight bespoke great aviation tradition.
