I just signed up for a free 7-day trial of Lightroom CC which I really don't want. I really want Lightroom CLASSIC CC because the screens look very similar to what I have been using in Lr 5 (which Adobe is no longer supporting). I also do not need a 7-day Trial of the Classic version as I already know how it works and looks. My question is: do I need to uninstall this 7-day trial of Lightroom CC before downloading the subscription version of Lightroom Classic CC?? I am assuming there would be a conflict between the 2 products on my computer if I did not uninstall this 7-day trial of Lr CC before downloading the Classic version. Also, do I need to uninstall my old disk stand-alone version of Lightroom 5 before downloading the newer Lr Classic CC ??
Thanks for any advice, ~FiddleMaker

You can have both on the machine, but since you don't want LR CC, it's just as well that you uninstall it. Ditto for LR 5. In any case, when you install LR Classic - you will be asked if you want to use your catalog. If you agree, then it will be copied and upgraded to the new version and you will need to use that one going forward. You will still be able to access the old catalog with the old software, if you really need to. The new version covers everything you did in the old version and adds all the new stuff.

Gene, thanks very much for your comments. My old catalog for Lightroom 5 is still intact. I never added additional catalogs or changed the name. I do have it backed up on two separate hard drives. When I installed Lr 5 back in early 2015 I kept the catalog in default mode.
To be honest, I don't any reason why I would need to go back and access anything from the Lr 5 catalog but it seems that I do have that option. Thanks again - at least I don't have to call Adobe Tech Support tomorrow morning and ask them these same questions. You have answered them with clarity.

I suppose I could go ahead and download the Lr Classic CC before uninstalling the trial Lightroom CC. Then if something happens because of my stupidity, I still have the trial Lr CC to fall back on.

No, leave them both on your HD. Just open the Creative Cloud app and install Classic CC, and leave CC alone.

OK, will give this a try. I did uninstall my old disk stand-alone version of Lr 5 since I no longer need it. Keeping the Lr5 catalog, however

I recommend Lightroom 6 DVD, that is if you can find it, requires no subscription is fully supported by Adobe and is the last version of Lightroom available on DVD. Adobe wants to make big bucks now by only offering a subscription service which ends up being Very Expensive to use for long term!

The problem here is that Lr6 DVD does not support raw files from newly pruchased Fujifilm X-T2.

"My question is: do I need to uninstall this 7-day trial of Lightroom CC before downloading the subscription version of Lightroom Classic CC??"

No.

This can be terribly confusing, but there are two $10 per month plans. One emphasises cloud storage and multiplatform use. The other has Lightroom CC, Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop and more, but not much cloud storage. That is the one that most of us want.

Since Lightroom 5, a lot has changed. The current thrust is an interconnectivity of the Lightrooms and options like Portfolio. That's why both Lightrooms are in the package. You have the option of using them together.

FWIW, your statement that "using Lr 5 (which Adobe is no longer supporting)" is correct, but not entirely so. Adobe provides a capable tool to use your X-T2 files in Lightroom 5. It is the (free) DNG Converter.

If you don't want a subscription, don't do it! If Lightroom 5 is a favorite, keep using it!

Bill, I am definitely going to switch to the Lr Classic CC. My old disk version of Lr5 is too outdated. May new features with the CC versions of Lr. $10 a month won't break me.

FWIW... I have both LR CC and LR Classic CC installed. I use LR Classic frequently, but have never used the other. I might someday, but don't see a need for it at the moment since all my work is done on a desktop computer.

Personally, I use LR Classic on everything but my cell phone. I use the newer (simpler) LR on the camera phone. EVERYTHING else (cards from all of my cameras) get uploaded (imported) to my Lightroom CC Classic libraries for cataloging and editing.

Why not delete the unwanted product? It has no value.

No need to uninstall Lightroom CC. They are two completely different programs and are designed to coexist. Lightroom CC is designed to work mostly with mobile devices such as phones, and tablets etc. It's main draw is that all your images are stored in the Adobe cloud and that all your images are accessible to all your devices. There are 2 Adobe subscriptions you can choose from:

1. Lightroom CC with 20GB cloud, + Lightroom Classic CC, and +Photoshop CC $9.99/mo
2. Lightroom CC with +1TB cloud $9.99/mo
