A Hawk in my Yard

I don't usually shoot birds, but this was a great opportunity. While reading I heard a soft "mew." Looking around I saw this guy at the corner of my yard on a telephone pole. Not thinking I ran in the house to get me camera. He returned the next day so I took the time to change lenses. The first was shot with my Canon T6s and a sigma 18-200 mm lens. The second with a Tamron 100-400 mm lens(my new lens and one of its first shots). Both were hand held. Minimal pp for sharpness and cropped to remove lines.

A few years ago, I looked out my back window and saw a medium sized bird land with something black in its talons. I grabbed my camera and went out to try getting a photo. I was able to get rather close to him and got a couple shots but my white balance was a bit off. Fortunately a little pp and I got it looking a little better. Not sure of what it was I asked some folks on another site and a couple said it could be a Cooper's Hawk. Anyway, the attached is the final photo after adjusting and cropping.

Great shots. With all the magnification we can get her meal looks like an immature pigeon to me. (check the feet) I only wish the Coopers Hawk that frequents our feeding area would pick a nice pole to dine on instead of the center of a citrus tree!!

I could not tell what it caught, but in another shot I guessed a squirrel.

I was surprised and I am glad he was not moving. Thanks.
