Without a suitable long lens to use on my new D500, I thought I would try my Nikon 55-300 with a 1.4 Tele Converter to see if that was an option that I could live with until I got enough money together to get a longer sharper zoom lens. While this lens and converter don't make for tack sharp pictures, with a little pp, I think it will work for now. Comments welcome.
Very NICE Jan ! .......you might also try using the 55-300 by itself, stop down to f8 using low ISO as possible and CROP - and if need be, use well applied pixel enlargement software for larger printings.

Thank you. I will try that. I tried this setup on the D5500, but the D500 focus system is much better.

I didn't think those are compatible.

That's what I heard too, but it's hard to argue with results.
Looks pretty darn good in dl. Toning down the highlights might give a bit more detail, but I like it.

Thank you for your comment and constructive criticism.
It turned out well, Jan! I like it!

Thank you Sue. I was pleased. I hadn't had much luck before this, with the Tele 1.4
