Dinner for two.
Caught this baby Opossum in my chipmunk trap.
I hear they don't taste to good!
Funny story, one night my dog (springer spaniel). Would not come in from the backyard. I went to see what was up. He was face to face with a opossum. I called him and as trained he tried to pick it up and bring it to me. Gosh, I yelled drop it. Good thing he did. Of course the opossum went limp. Finally got the dog in the house so the poor animal could go back into the woods. Man, just did not need that in the house.
This guy does not look happy. Keep your fingers far away lol.
Gotta ask. Why on earth would you want to trap chipmunks?

They have undermined my porch and shrubs. Can see the roots of the shrubs and concrete is pulling away. Have killed 16 so far. Why would you ask?
Well, I've lived in several houses in my time and never had a chipmunk problem. I'm one of those people that has a hard time understanding why anyone would want to kill a little creature if they didn't have to.

Have you lived where chipmunks are present?
Yes, we have them all over Toronto.

You must have grown up watching Chip and Dale๐๐
Not Sure how we started talking about chipmunks but in rare cases chipmunks have undermined foundations and caused complete homes to colapses. They are busy and industrious creatures.

Nice picture. When I was a kid I partrolled neighbors gardens with my havaheart trap.
After you let them out they usually go to one of their hideouts or a tree and hang by their tail.
Next time when you let one loose follow it.
Cute opossum. Unfortunately they get a bad rap a lot of times. They are the only marsupial in North America. Their normal diet consists of carrion, rodents, insects, snails, slugs, birds, eggs, frogs, plants, fruits and grains so it's possible he was going to help you with your chipmunk problem which is what drew him to you. They also are resistant to rabies so there is no threat to them carrying the disease.
I hope that you relocated him and did not dispatch him.
