Hi all,
When I was shooting daily, I was mostly a sports photographer. It was the bulk of my work because I mostly worked evenings. I didn't mind though and love shooting sports because it is such an unscripted challenge. I would practice my timing by photographing lightning at high shutter speeds. At one point, in my "prime", I could shoot ten frames and get a bolt in 7 of them. Not a bad average. I would typically shoot these at no lower than 1/250th of a second. Here are two examples of this. One shot in Vegas at the Stratosphere Hotel observation deck and the other at a high school championship game in Mumford, Alabama. The black and white was shot with a Pentax LX and a 20mm F4 lens and the Vegas shot with a D100 and 35-70 F2.8 lens.
Good captures and my first DSLR was a D100 and it did a great job, was good for its day and never let me down.
