Flamingo Talk - Experimenting and would like opinions.
I've been playing and playing with this image and I think that with the border the colors really pop. I'd be interested in your opinions, so I posted both versions.
Like them both. And you are right, the colors do pop. That's just the color matt you would use if you were to frame it.

Nice image! I actually like the one without the border the best. For me, the red border is a bit distracting from the image.

I agree the one without the border works for me too.
Perhaps if the border was reduced in width to a fine line may be more subtle.
Just my thoughts though and it is a good composition.
I agree with most here! The boarder is a distraction. They're many other boarders that can set off your photo much better!
If you took this to a framer, they would cringe. :)

My thoughts exactly. The red makes it pop but the red draws my eyes away from your subject. Perhaps a small red mat with lighter second border outside the red, then the frame......great photo though! Tom
Dick, I prefer the one with the border, but if I were you, I’d try it with a thinner border, reducing it by over half. We’ve been seeing a lot of borders at our camera club, and the thinner ones seem to look the best because the thicker ones begin to overwhelm the photo. Make that into a nice print with the red border on a black mat, and you’ve got a winner, for sure.
I agree the point about using a thinner border. However there is also a problem with the beak on the uppermost flamingo. It is almost indiscernable

So looking past the focus issue with this particular image, I took in all your generous comments and here's what I came up with for a final version....of course, just as an experiment with using borders for the first time.
