Thanks, Angela and it certainly was and hope that you guys had a great Forth also!!! I was slightly under the weather for a few days and missed out on some great food but made it through ok. Just as I started to reply to you on the night of the forth the local fireworks started going off so I went out and set on the end of the pier and watched the display and when I came in Ellen was watching the excellent program on PBS so sat down and watched it with her and then fell asleep and only now have finally made it back on so--- must be about two weeks behind at least! The heat has been almost unbearable here and Ellen thinks dehydration was my problem as I was working quite a bit outside trying to finish up the lawn work and keep the flowers hanging on! Speaking of flowers I will attempt to send you an image of the Maypop and it's top runner is about twenty inches from the surface and also one showing the Hyacinth Bean plants, now almost chest high and seem to be hanging in there with the heat, Also a pair of Monarchs showed up a few days ago so could not resist snapping a few images of them! Hope the weather is not too bad up your way and take care!

Glad your party was a huge success, but sorry you were under the weather!! If Ellen is right, you need to keep drinking with this horrible heat!! Thankfully we're getting a break in the heat for this weekend!! Our 4th was quiet, just me and David, but it was a good day.... until the night with the fireworks.... Buster was going crazy, even in a room with the ac and radio on!! Hope Bella didn't get stressed!
Your Maypop looks a lot bigger than mine, which is still in a pot.... I'm afraid to plant it in the ground just yet and might have to keep it inside in the winter....
Love your monarch and a beautiful female at that!!! Please remind them of my garden, my milkweed is in bloom just waiting for them to sip on it!!
Your beans have gone wild, like mine.... the flowers are very pretty and the leaves have such details... just wait for those pods to form!!!
Thanks for sharing, Corky and as far as being behind on this site.... don't worry about it, just pick up what's posted now. This really does take up a lot of time and I only comment on my buddy list, not everyone which a lot of people do.
Enjoy the weekend and try and relax!!
Both are very nice Angela.
Thanks, Angela and hope that you guys also have a great weekend. We received a touch of rain overnight, but need more... Probably most of the difference in the size of our two Maypops is because ours was planted quite a while before your's so hopefully, much of your early development is happening in the root system.---Am going back now and check out some of your beautiful posts that I haven't viewed!
Take care!

We had rain on Friday, but that finally broke the heat wave... today was perfect. I had a bridal shower to go to, but as soon as I got home, I started weeding that was so needed! Corky, you don't have to comment on everything.... it takes so much time, just go outside with Ellen and enjoy your surroundings!!!
...I hope my little Maypop starts growing a little more than it has, but so far, it's still healthy!
