These shots prove that gray hours can be great, too.

No, I didn't. You/others can agree or disagree, but having shot b&w almost exclusively for a lot of years, I feel --no, I'm pretty certain-- that seeing, composing, exposing, processing, etc, in/for b&w is very different than it is in/for color. Given the digital tools at our disposal, good results can indeed be produced, but doing something because you can is not the same as doing something because you should. Don't get me wrong; I'm no hardcore realist who insists that an image has to factually recreate the reality of a scene or subject, but if I'd seen something that I figured would work best in b&w, I'd have seen it and exposed it and shot it in b&w.
Thank you for having commented. It made me consider some very basic things, photographically speaking.
Fine, non-stereotypical work. I especially like #2 because the clouded light falls on the rocks, the rocks are strong enough to counter the power of the sky.

It sounds a little like I offended your sense of aesthetics! No offense meant. Some people do experiment. Clearly you have a point of view based on experience that informs your decision how to shoot a scene. That's very good.

Thanks, artBob. And to you and others who commented about these images somehow compensating for the 'marginality' of the day, I have to say that days like this are exactly what I wait for and look for. Blue skies, puffy white clouds, the slanting, glancing light of an early morning or late afternoon (or whatever) are all-too-stereotypical, too commonplace, and frankly --to me-- rather boring because of their ubiquity. Walk in any gallery, or view any on-line portfolio, and what do you see? Over and over the same shot done differently. Technically excellent, perhaps; 'beautiful' or 'impressive' or insert your adjective/adverb here, but having been told over and over what is 'beautiful' or 'impressive' or 'picturesque' or...... the viewer sees and likes what they've been conditioned to see and like, and assesses ("I like," "I don't like," "I'll buy") the work with limited criteria. And too often, with little understanding.
I should probably not have taken a stab at irony. I'd hoped mention of re-runs on tv and 'not on your life' would've sufficed.

Oh, please, no! You absolutely did NOT offend me! You made me think, and that's a GOOD thing. My apologies to you for having seemed to take offense. Truly.
Nice shots Cany. Actually my favorite type of weather. Love the drama of a "mean" sky.
Great shots. Love the skies, they really add a totally new dimension that most would not use. Mahalo for sharing.

No blue hour, no golden hour, no mauve or pink or salmon or grape hour either. Only a gray hour that lasted pretty much all day long. And a few drops of rain, but not enough to make things interesting. Truly a marginal day. Probably best to just stay home and watch re-runs on the TV machine.
Nuh-uh. Not on your life!

Nice set! I think I would name the fourth picture 'Turtle Rock', I see a shell and face on the right hand end.
I love the gray skies. They somehow enhance the beauty of the scenes. Great work!

Thank you, lwiley. Re: 'Turtle Rock?' Not to disclose things that I'm prohibited to disclose, let's just say that someone else saw 'something' in that rock, too, and left there something that is very, very unique. Couldn't say whether they saw their chosen canvas as a turtle or not (since what they saw/left was seen/left a couple thousand years ago), but hey, why not? Turtle Rock it is.
Very nice photos.
You got the weather we had during the last part of last week. Here on Sunday, nothing but clear blue skies with no clouds in sight. So, I decided to do grape hour in the form of an Argentinian Malbec.

Bwahahaha! Serious (well, maybe not all
that serious) hat tip to you for catching that, Bob! I'd thought about including 'happy' among the hours I listed, but figured that might be a little too obvious. And thanks.
Beautiful, Cany! Loved the downloads!
