I caught a glimpse of him in my backyard once before, but today he posed for me.
That's so cool , wish I could get a pic of one, excelllent
His buddy looks like he has chipmunk markings. Alson unusual.
Nice capture with a Red Squirrel. The white one is not a Albino. An albino would have red eyes. It lacks or has a genetic quirk for coloration. Keep watch on your friend. They tend not to survive long in the wild.
That's an albino red squirrel.
That's really neat, good thing you got a photo as proof. We have a white squirrel here and no one would believe me, but I saw him/her.

I suspect you are correct that it is not a true albino unless it was just a trick of the light that makes the eye dark. I share your fear that he will not survive long, but he does appear to be full grown.
I can't tell if his eye is red or not. If it is not, then he may be leucistic, which is a loss of pigmentation. I've heard we have a leucistic red-tailed hawk around here but I haven't seen it. It's cool that you could get a great picture like that, of him and his buddy!
Queenstown,MD may be the white squirrel capital. You can see 5-6 at a time along the main road. Now some black ones are being seen. Seeing mixed broods is an eye catching sight. Bill
That is so cool! I saw one with a white tail, but never could get my camera quick enough. I hope that color doesn't make him more of a target for the hawks, and other predators. ( the sighting of the partial white one was also in Indy.)
