Last summer, my son Johnny, who is Chinese, went to America and spent 3 weeks with my brother, Mike. Mike is an extremely accomplished videographer and a good photographer. He was the Director of Visual Media at the White House prior to retiring, and when I was working for a big paper, I would see him often on assignments to photograph the President, which was really cool to literally be able to work side-by-side with my brother. He is one of my very best friends, but I still tell him I am the better photographer. hahaha! Anyway, since Johnny was gone for 3 weeks, we decided to go to Thailand for two of those weeks. In Bangkok, we took a tour of the grand canals, which was pretty interesting to see. At one point, this lovely woman came up to our boat and offered souvenirs for sale. I purchased a Buddha statue made out of Teak wood. It is proudly displayed on my desk at work now. She spoke with us for several minutes and I was quite taken by her, so asked if she would let me make a photo of her. She agreed, and I managed to get this one frame of her prior to her pushing off and going to an arriving boat. Hope you enjoy this shot- it is an honor for me to share this work with you and I appreciate your interest! Have a great day!
A lovely environmental portrait!
A great capture! Thanks for the interesting background. Is your son following you as a photographer?
Wonderful shot! Very expressive. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome to the forum! Very nice shot, Mark. What camera?
Next time you come to Bangkok, let me know in advance and we can get together for a Starbucks.
Great depth of color. !!!
In Asia, I use a small, mirrorless Nikon N1AW1, which is what I shot this with. I will make sure to get together with you. Would love to go back to Bangkok!
I love this photo. You caught enough of the surroundings to show environment, the colors are great, and she looks like such a nice, happy lady. Wonderful shot!
