Sessions cites Bible in defense of breaking up families, blames migrant parents

The attorney general, in a speech to law enforcement officers in Indiana, called on his "church friends" not to blame him for the policy.

In his remarks, Sessions hit back at the "concerns raised by our church friends about separating families," calling the criticism "not fair or logical" and quoting Scripture in his defense of the administration's tough policies.

"Persons who violate the law of our nation are subject to prosecution. I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order," Sessions said. "Orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves and protect the weak and lawful."

He called on religious leaders to "speak up strongly to urge anyone who would come here to apply lawfully, to wait their turn and not violate the law."

Later Thursday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders doubled down on Sessions' comments, saying it is "very biblical to enforce the law."

"That is actually repeated a number of times throughout the Bible," she said, responding to a question about Sessions' comments about Scripture's supporting the administration's policies.

Let's see commit a crime like burglaize a house or rob the gas station and you cannot be separated from your kids. Just following liberal stupidity regarding breaking the law.

Come now, two differing levels of threat to individuals... one seeking a better life [illegally entering the boarder, no threat to individuals], the other theft of possessions with possible intent to do harm to the occupants.

The Right Wing, can use the Bible to justify many things.... slavery? Yes, for sure, "tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect" (Titus 2:9).

These aren't criminals, dude - - these are people leaving scary areas with their children, traveling dangerous miles to seek US Refuge - - thinking they're going to get fair treatment, instead they are ripped away from their children, and their children are taken to Parts Unknown.

It is beyond egregious when these families are being torn apart, the children kept in virtual prison, cages even, 22 hours a day - - 1 hour for some kind of recreational recess and one hour for eating.

And both Attorney General Jeff Sessions and press secretary Sarah Suckabee Sanders are quoting the Bible - - THIS is what happens to the separation of church and state when the right wing gets a grip.

A humans rights activist on the Ari Mebler show last night said that the detained mothers should have their refuge processes started in one week. Some have been there a month already and have not even had their preliminary interview. In the meantime, the children are in different locations and no contract permitted, no information given. Some are apparently as young as 3, and none speak English if they speak at all. This has been highly traumatizing to both child and parent(s). Nancy Pelosi has called it barbaric and the UN considers it a violation of Human Rights.

Sorry, but this is trumpet Administration "we're gonna make an example of you" mean-spirited and destructive game playing.

Apparently, the Republicans are a very religious group. Except for Child Molesters, Pimps and neo-confederate White supremacists who get the full support of the President.
So tell me, why is Sharia Law so feared, when the Christian version is perfectly okay?
Seems to me it's all the same, yet here we are with that little Lepricon twisting the words of the Big Book of Jewish Fairey Tales to justify his cruelty to children.
When did this become okay?

Religious "excuses", and that's exactly what they are, regardless of the religion are foolish to say the least. Religion is a force for evil. wars have been fought for no better reason than "my religion is better than yours" and if you don't change to my religion we have the god given right to kill you. There are only a few religions that do not prostilitase (sp?). Separate belief in a creator of some kind is fine. But religion is a giant scam.

I've always thought that organized religion was very much like organized crime. Both exist for the enrichment of those at the top at the expense of those at the bottom. Little old ladies, living on pensions sending money to a mega-church turns my stomach. If there actually is a god, I hope those bastards burn in hell for eternity.

Death penalty for both. That will teach them. Criminals have NO RIGHT to keep their families together if the commit a crime. You and your type are still living

Just one point here. Presenting at the Border and asking for asylum is not a crime.
Don't let the facts bother you.

No, you are so wrong, were they just simply fleeing persecution in their home countries they would apply for refugee status upon arriving in Mexico, but that is not what they are doing, they are traveling to the US to immigrate for jobs and opportunity, in effect they are disrespecting our federal laws and those persons who are trying to legally immigrate into our country.

Our immigration laws do not support refugee status just because you live in a violent neighborhood, there has to be a persecuted status to be granted refugee status. How about we take a look at what our federal law says?

section 101(a)(42) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

(42) The term "refugee" means:

(A) any person who is outside any country of such person's nationality or, in the case of a person having no nationality, is outside any country in which such person last habitually resided, and who is unable or unwilling to return to, and is unable or unwilling to avail himself or herself of the protection of, that country because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion, or

(B) in such circumstances as the President after appropriate consultation (as defined in section 207(e) of this Act) may specify, any person who is within the country of such person's nationality or, in the case of a person having no nationality, within the country in which such person is habitually residing, and who is persecuted or who has a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. The term "refugee" does not include any person who ordered, incited, assisted, or otherwise participated in the persecution of any person on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. For purposes of determinations under this Act, a person who has been forced to abort a pregnancy or to undergo involuntary sterilization, or who has been persecuted for failure or refusal to undergo such a procedure or for other resistance to a coercive population control program, shall be deemed to have been persecuted on account of political opinion, and a person who has a well founded fear that he or she will be forced to undergo such a procedure or subject to persecution for such failure, refusal, or resistance shall be deemed to have a well founded fear of persecution on account of political opinion.

Most of these people being lead to our border by progressive "No Borders and Amnesty" groups do not qualify for refugee status and the manner in which they enter our country is illegal entry and they are processed as such. A point that needs to be made is that if they cross at a designated entry point and request refugee status their entry into the country will not be considered illegal and they will be processed differently because in such a case they have not broken federal law.

Tell the terrorists to turn around and go home. They are wanted here about as much as you are wanted on this planet.

Don't do that. I was pretty much against terrorists until your post. Now I have to re-evaluate.

How will we determine the difference? He definitely seems worse since Elaine recognized his divinity. Could they both be bots from the same programmer, or am I just grasping at straws because I don't want to believe there are people like that?
