I went to Bali for a vacation, and went to a show that was a Balinese opera, where there were characters in elaborate costumes and traditional music. It was really interesting to see and was one of the first things I did in Bali, so it was a good way to set the tone for the rest of the trip. During a brake, one of the musicians gave me a glance that I captured here. The shot was made with a Nikon D2x and a 300mm F2.8 Nikkor lens. Exposed at 1/250th at F4 with an ISO of 100. I also used a flash to fill the camera right side of his face. The background, overhead and camera left were white plastic tarps, so there was a really nice quality to the light- like big soft boxes. Anyway, one of my favorite shots from Bali. BTW, if you ever come here to China and talk about Bali, they will assume you mean Paris, France, which Bali is the Chinese name for. Instead, you have to say "Bali Island". Bali is part of Indonesia and if you have the time and means, I highly recommend going.
