I noticed on the Adorama web page that a refurbished Nikon D810 is listed as a "closeout" and priced at $2,996.95, while a brand new from the factory Nikon D810 is priced at $2,796.95. I thought this must be a typo, so I went back and checked again, and sure enough the prices listed above are what is on the Adorama website. This is passing strange. Wonder if they have an error in their posting?

We should ask Helen Oster about this.... She may see Adorama in the title and check it out anyway...

You could call Adorama Photo Customer Service at 1-800-815-0702 and ask about the price difference. Perhaps they are unaware of Nikon's price? Nikon usually sets prices where vendors can't sell for less than Nikon's firm set prices.

The non-refurb has a $200 rebate applied to bring it down from the regular price of $2,996.95 to $2,796.95. I'll check with the Purchasing Department whether an error has been made with the price of the refurb and post here again when I get a response.

She is an Adorama employee. Thus asking her is asking Adorama. Plus I’m sure she is further up the corporate ladder than whomever may answer the phones.

Probably there is a Nikon USA-suppored sale on NEW D810 that's going on right now.... but the discounts don't apply to used and refurbished, so they can end up actually costing more (temporarily).

I've seen the same thing happen with Canon gear. In fact, I bought my two 7D Mark IIs when there was a sale price for new that beat out the price on refurbs... which I was all set to buy, until I saw the price for new was lower!

Edit: WHOOPS! I just saw Helen's response and that it was a typo in this case.
