While walking on the beach today, I came across this bird that was really out of place.
It kept still,looking out at the horizon.
It let me get close and get some good shots.
My only complaint was with the piping plovers,
they kept swooping in trying to scare the bird away.
While I'm posting, I added two more photos from today's walk.

A Gannet and a Puffer Fish. That Gannet looks very out of place; they spend most of their lives on tiny ledges on vertical cliffs, rather than flat sandy beaches? Probably because that nearly six foot wingspan makes it more difficult for them to launch from flat ground.

I read a few weeks back that the storm out in the Atlantic had blown a lot of the gannets that had been out at sea to the mainland.

I'm surely happy that you didn't touch the funny-looking fish. It's a Puffer, I think, and very poisonous.

No,but the seagull was having a tough time with it,and left it alone.
