Red Poppy ready to bloom, Old Mission, Northern Michigan.
Am I forgetting my 50s movies, or shouldn’t this title be “Invasion of the Body Snatchers?” :)

If I may Bob. Poppies always bring tears to my eyes, especially around Memorial Day.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

One of my favorite poems as a kid. We had to memorize it in sixth grade.

I was thinking of “Little Shop of Horrors” or “Day of the Triffids”. Great shot Bob!
Thank you Spyder Jan. I have not read this beautiful poem in years. Fortunately my father survived WWII, but I know thousands did not. This is a moving poem to those who lay in peace.

It's from "Day of the Triffids," made in 1963 and remade in 2009. For clarification: "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is a about Earth becoming a danger to other worlds and the other worlds sending an emissary to determine if we should still exist. "Invasion of the body Snatchers" is about spores from space that grow into pods that then duplicate humans, steal our memories and lose our souls. "Day of the Triffids" is about deadly plants from space. And if anyone ever refers to "Night of the Lepus" you will forever be banned from any and all science fiction discussions. That one is about giant bunnies and stars William Shatner.
Before I scrolled down and saw that other UHHers are as twisted as I am, I immediately thought of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the original 1956 film. That big ole bloom pod easily lends itself to the analogy.

Whether you are a space invader or an earthling, it is a pretty picture, with great colors.
Unlike the day the earth stood still, which was in B&W. But great special effects for film in 1951. Probably the movie that started me down the road of science fiction.
That's a great looking image...nicely captured and presented.
