I like the angle on the 3rd one the best but the color seems not quite right maybe a little more towards the red seems to yellow. Just MHO.

I like #3 for angle and shadows, but not in love with the colors either. I like both 1 and 2 with the contrasting darker piece in front, but three catches my eye the most.

not that you need another opinion but, i like #3 for simplicity but #2 definitely shows that its "natural" color by the odd piece in front.

They all look pretty rusty to me. I'm an uncomplicated guy and I like uncomplicated things. That would be #3. Nice stuff.

Can they be in B&W for the contest, because the texture would be awesome without color! Especially the 3rd one.

A few thoughts and notes here...

The contest is a weekly contest, with this week't topic being RUST. Could be all rust, a little rust, close-up or distant... These shots were shot in the bright sunlight, and to me, the color is actually close to what it actually is in that light... Maybe a little bit more orange, but still pretty close.

As an added note, they were not shot with a Macro Lens.... they were actually shot with my "Motorola Droid Camera Phone" and were shot very very close. Didn't have my camera with me on Monday, and time was of the essence.

Here is the shot info...

ISO: ISO-55
Focal Length: 4 mm
FStop: F/2.8

Because time was of the essence... I have already entered this week's contest using my original selection (#2) with some minor color adjustments...

Thanks for all your comments.... Be on the lookout also... I have a bunch of other shots I took on Monday and will post them in another topic...

my monitor must be way off..they look very orange..and there is no contrast between background and subject. Texture is a strong element in composition but texture alone says nothing. No compositional element has meaning itself..so the images fall flat to me. I think if the nails had been part of something greater ..as in a rusty nail on an old barn door ..it would have had more interest.
