Yesterday I upgraded from Lightroom 5 to Lightroom 6. Install went fine. But the shortcut reads Lightroom Classic. I went to Adobe and saw my products and it was Lightroom 6!
I know I opened Lightroom 6 after the install and closed out of it last night. This morning I found only my Lightroom 5.7 and Lightroom Classic CC on my Start bar.
I'm running Windows 7.
I think I'm going crazy. Any ideas as to what happened?
Thanks in advance.
The Lightroom installation places the new version of the software in a new location leaving the existing software as-is. So, unless you rename or remove your launch icons for the old software, it waits there just waiting to confuse you.
Methinks you subscribed to the Adobe Creative Cloud for the upgrade. Or you have the 30 day eval install of Lightroom Classic CC.
Open your Lightroom Classic CC and then go to the help menu and click on "about Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC" or something like that. Read the version that you have and let us know. The latest version of the one I'm paying $9.99/month for is v7.3.1
I think yours will say v6.x.x or something in the 6 range. I believe they are probably renamed the boxed version of Lightroom CC version 6 to Classic because it works on the same platform as the LR Classic CC offered by subscription now. Just a guess though.

The latest version of Lightroom 6 is 6.12... and I bet that's what you have, even though it says LR CC. If you have a later version... well, lucky you!
I think when you buy direct, download and install from the Adobe website now, you'll always get LR Classic CC... the only difference is the licensing (perpetual or subscription that incl. Photoshop CC).
