I am looking for a tripod that is at least 72" fully extended and am having a hard time finding them online. All I see are 60-65" extended. My height requires at least a 6 footer. I want a fairly well built one and will be putting about 6 pounds on it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Google: Camera Tripod - for tall person. Bunch of choices, all seem to have a long center column.

I'd check out either of these
Carbon - http://www.tempecamera.biz/Manfrotto_MT055CXPRO3_p/mt055cxpro3.htm
Aluminum - http://www.tempecamera.biz/Manfrotto_MT055XPRO3_Tripod_p/mt055xpro3.htm

Are you kidding. I can pick up a Carbon Manfrotto for less than half that.

Here's four to consider. The first two are inexpensive. I have no idea what the quality standard is for those. The third is an Oben. I own 2 Obens. They make a good product.

What camera and lens are you putting on it? What subject matter will you be shooting? That makes better criteria than camera+lens weight.

Really Right Stuff TVC-43: VERSA SERIES 4 has a max height of 7 feet. Couple with a BH-50 ball head.

Every photo workshop I've been to in the last 3 years, the majority of the participants have RRS gear.

The Gitzo GT3543XLS Systematic Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod (Extra Long) goes to about 72" without extending the center column at all and goes to over 79" extended. Cost is just under $1,000. With a ball head and the camera mounted it will go to nearly 7' without using the center column. I have an older tripod that is made out of extruded basalt, so it weighs more, but goes about the same height. They are out there, you will just have to pay for them.

If it was me, no matter what others are saying I would look for a tripod that goes high enough for you without having to extend the center column. I'm 6' 7", and it's nice to have the extra height when needed.
