Yeah, I'm disappointed in NASCAR as well. Too many cars...maybe I should stop watching. It is what it is.

Photography magazines were useful before about 1993 and the advent of the World Wide Web. By 2003, they were relics of a bygone era. The few that remain are vacuous.
The old photo mags weren't necessarily all that great either. Some of the columnists took a page to tell you something they could have said in a few lines. And remember all that cutesy talk, like referring to Kodak as the "Great Yellow Father"? I had several subscriptions but can't really say I miss 'em..

I don't know about anyone else but I am growing weary of what lens to take to ???, what about 42nd Street Camera, Nikon versus Canon, is Crop Sensor equal to Full Frame, and the never ending photos of birds and flowers...
I've been following the Sony A7R3 blog on Facebook and find its content and photos vastly superior... the other Nikon blogs are not bad either.
I'm sure I will be receiving a lot of hate postings back, however, I'm confident that others feel much the same way...
So what, exactly, do you lust after? If you don't like it, why are you here? Have you something to contribute? If so, what?
The ones who complain are the ones at fault. Obviously, the current "way of UHH" is hugely popular, with a great many folks happily participating in both Photo Gallery and main discussion forum. For those who want something different,
Just DO IT. Take responsibility for the content. We ain't here

Yeah, it's 40 cars going in a circle really fast for a few hours. The smells of exhaust, burning oil and rubber, B.O., the rancid Budweiser splashed around, the fried chicken bones under foot, and some used diapers left under the stands. Red necks and faces and arms from sunburn. Went there once, bought the T-shirt, didn't look back.
140,000 of your closest "friends" all vy for the same parking spaces and Interstate highway lanes.
I lived nine miles from the Charlotte Motor Speedway for decades, near three of the key roads into the area. We always laid low or left town during race weeks.
I have a very hard time understanding the thrills of fishing, NASCAR, and snipe hunting.

There's something for everybody! At least here we can kind of broaden the interests with some initiative.

If you've been following it for years one wonders why you recently became a user based on the feelings about it. After all, nothing much has changed here. You seem disappointed that things haven't magically changed now that you are officially a member.

Thank you for making me aware of this section.
TO THE OP
"chutzpah" ..." for those who are not familiar with the Yiddish language or New York City kinda vernacular, here is the translation. The word has come to mean "UNMITIGATED GALL"
Example- A little old lad has a pretzel stand on Walls Street- she sells her pretzels d or $1.00 each. Every day, a young executive leaves the Stock Exchange, plunks down a dollar on her counter and never takes a pretzel- this goes on for three years. One day, the old lady stops the young mam and says "I really appreciate all your business but I have to tell you that the price of my pretzels has gone up to $2.00"!
Sorry about that.
Of course there is gonna be some boring and lackluster stuff on this and any other photography forum.Everyone here is not a Nation Geographic staffer or a world renowned photographer! New folks are joining all the times and will ask the same basic questions. Every forum has folks that are preoccupied with gear a specifications, features and prices, others are "scientists" and want to talk about the molecules that make up pixels. There are folks who are sticklers for spelling and grammar and will take you to task on misspelling or misuse of nomenclature. There are grouchy folks and "trolls" that love to argue and look for fights and confrontations. There are true artists. There are professionals, amateurs and equipment collectors. Mostly, there are nice folks who love making images, tinkering with their gear, and just having some fun with photography. There are family snap shooters and aspiring professionals. Nothing wrong with photographers who like to photograph pretty landscapes, lions, tigers, bugs, flowers, cats, dogs and birds! Some folks dig nude studies and others think that is "not nice"! Welcome to the world!
So...you have a number of options. If you don't like it around here, just pack it in. OR...you could try to improve things by posting some interesting images, writing a technical article, starting a new section on your special interest and/or just help out some rookies and newbies who need a bit of help and encouragement.
You took the time to mention what you DON"T like but you failed to say what you would LIKE to see!
Complaints are like BELLY BUTTONS, everybody has one! I'll familiarize y'all with another Yiddish word. "KEVTCH" rimes with wretch! It is an onomatopoetic word that pertains to a sound that sick folks make when the are experiencing excruciating pain or a PERSON who is a chronic complainer. So...don't be a kevtch-, instead, pitch in and do something positive.

An interesting post, but you might wish to proof read your verbose and hastily written contributions before posting. Also, brevity does have some merits.

Great categorization of the UHH community, EL!
I wonder what percentage of that population fits in each category....
