Describe in detail where / when it hangs. My experience are from a different platform, but when I had my phone connected to my laptop and I tried to import, the software would hang. I needed to disconnect my phone before using LR so that LR did not see the (android) phone as an available drive to import new images. This experience may not have anything to do with your situation, but who can say without more details regarding the specifics of your situation: LR version and hardware version.

The Adobe community user forums have several topics with High Sierra and Lightroom Classic crashes with some known bugs. The bugs were fixed in updates. What version of Lightroom Classic are you running?

I am running Lightroom CC the latest version, what happens is when I log into LR and try to do any particular task, whether it be importing or editing the little umbrella just continually hangs, eventually I can perform some tasks but so slowly that it is not worth bothering with. A little while ago(a few weeks ago) it was doing exactly the same thing, then it appeared to be cured but now it is happening again. I have unplugged, shut down all the normal things but still it hangs. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Linda,

If I had Apple experience, I would try to help. I don't.

UHH is a great forum. You may get the right help here. If not, Adobe sponsors a forum for users. There are several very active and very knowledgeable people there. One of the first things they will ask is for the actual version number from the Help > About page. It will seem odd, but half the time people think their update system is working but updates are being skipped.

Many people use the support chat with Adobe that is available with their subscription and most always (at least when mentioned in UHH) come away with their problem resolved.

I am running Lightroom CC the latest version, what... (show quote)

Linda, are you using LIghtroom CC or are you using Lightroom Classic CC? In either case, what I'd do is remove the LR you are using and then reinstall it. If that doesn't work, do a chat with Adobe. They were a big help with my issue on the last big Photoshop/LR upgrade.

Linda - Sounds as if you may need to add memory to your machine, if you don't already have at least 16GB. Mine even gets slow with 16GB at times with EL Capitan, been afraid to update to the latest version (Hi Sierra) with my late 2012 model.

I've ALWAYS had great luck with Adobe tech support. I suggest you give them a try. Best of luck.

I'm NOT an Adobi user but have looked at several other platforms.

I'm guessing here because you didn't say what computer system you're using. Trying several PP's on my older computer, I can tell you that I've had some hang-ups because of too small amount of RAM and once because I had uneven amounts of RAM on board.

My older motherboard would fit 32gb of RAM on board but I used a 16gb and an 8gb set. All worked fine except when a PP system needed more!

You may not have those problems but I'm just saying it could be from that or possibly something going bad on your motherboard.

I now remember a system hang up from too small a power supply also. Hummmmm… when is the last time you dusted your computer out?

I should have mentioned earlier that I have a 27 inc Mac 5K late 2014 - 3-5 GHz Core 15 - 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 - AMD Radeon R9 - so I suppose it could be I need extra space but everything else works fine, PS works OK also. I will have another attempt at getting in touch with Adobe later today. Thank you everyone, it all helps.
