Robert, don't worry about minor scratches and wear. They are marks of distinction and faithful service. Here's mine on our 44th anniversary together, Dec. 24, 2015. Yes, it still works as it did on day one.

I am wondering if anyone knows of a good way to touch up minor scratches on the black Nikon bodies? They are meaningless, but they bother me.

How about black appliance touch up paint or possibly black auto touch up paint

I second the black acrylic paint. I didn't use it on a camera, rather on a black laptop. Did the job nicely.

It is a part of having a camera. Use a sharpie if it bothers you though.

You're replying to something I said? What the heck?

Wouldn't it be great if we could return both our wives and ourselves to our off the shelf condition? As it is, we must be satisfied with "works as it did on day one."

Go to a hobby shop and get a small bottle of black model paint. Use a toothpick to just place a little on the CLEANED mark and allow plenty of drying time.

Steve, I'm happy that I feel about the same as I did when I was 25. I'm also thankful for that, as well. Good thought, though.

Keeping fit will do that for ya, Bob. Somewhere along the way I missed a training session and got away from it.

You might want to look at fingernail polish. It does come in black and is extremely durable. Can be removed working carefully with fingernail polish remover. (it is typically made with olive oil and acetone. Try it out on something that is like the area that you want to cover. You could also try the manufacturer to see if they can recommend or supply a suitable covering agent.

Steve, I still carry a view camera around on some photo excursions. There's probably 30-40 pounds, or more, of equipment in that case.

Suggest check out Liquid Tape in the hardware store. It is supposed to be used on electrical wires instead of electrical tape. It goes on like paint - suggest use your own brush rather than the supplied one. Durable. Good luck! JimR

Yeah strip it down to bare metal, and start all over again. Sorta like a car restoration.
