Sales have dropped, majority of inventory in distribution channels has been sold, and it has been eclipsed in the marketplace by competition.

You never know what's around the corner.

This new Nikon design patent (USD789434) could be for the rumored Nikon Coolpix P900 replacement. The top dials are different when compared to the current Nikon P900 model."

This is the camera (though I should say lack of it) that got me into digital photography. Five years ago I came back to photography following a 23 year absence. I decided it was the camera for me, but could not purchase one anywhere in the UK or on line. In the end I chose a Canon 70D. I subsequently moved to a 7D mark II, then onto Nikon, Olympus and finally a Sony A7III - which is where I will stop. Had the P900 been available I would probably still have it today; and I doubt I would have bought any of my other cameras. Nikon has a lot to answer for.

The replacement must be due.

Too replace it with the P1000, 24mm - 3,000mm.

Thank you for the responses. B&H says they are looking for extra supply. It would be nice to get the same camera and RAW . I do not understand that they dropped it ...it still sells for high price, no significant drop. I guess the lack of RAW is due to no competition with bigger cameras. But I do not have any knowledge nor clue. So, let's wait a while.

Well it did have a wonderful "run" for Nikon! They should do so well with all their camera models! Will be fun to see what they have come up with as its replacement.

I considered the P900 for use as a "vacation camera", since I don't like taking my "money-maker DSLR's" on vacation. I decided against the P900 for 2 reasons: (1) It will not shoot RAW, and (2) no hot shoe for a flash.

It will be interesting to see what the P900 replacement will be.

As some of the responses have said, they're releasing its replacement soon. Some research will tell you that the features that you ask for are rumoured to be in its successor. That's the reason it's being discontinued. Sorry but it's all quite clear and easy to find online.

I’m already beginning to feel the need for that extra 1000mm.

My wife bought the P900 and absolutely loves it. She's a bird & flower lover.
We also love taking pictures of puppies.
I myself have a Sony a99II and a Sony RX10IV.
I'm still reading Friedman's book on the RX10IV and hope to take it on our next trip overseas.

I hoping that we have just about everything covered.

The reason I dropped it from my replacement list was the lack of RAW. Now if they add that ...
