I am new to photography and have recently purchased a Nikon D810. Is the Nikon AF-S DX MIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED a good lenses match?

Are you sure you want to mount a DX lens on an FX body?

No.
You have some homework to do.
The 16-80 is for DX (smaller sensored) bodies and it’s supposed to be good, but You need non-DX lenses. Sure, they will work with limitations, but you got a great FF body. I love mine, probably the best digital i’ve ever used. But why put bias-ply tires on a luxury car?
Better lenses for that camera aren’t going to be cheap.
Primes are usually a good bet, but make sure they are for full-frame. With Nikon they will not have the DX designation.. The better zooms are the “holy trinity”: 14-24, 24-70 (any version) 70-200. The latest version of the 24-120 is decent, great for events- though not quite as sharp. Sigma and Tamron have some good ones too, but i’m only familiar with a few Sigmas.

Welcome. Goofy gave you some fine advise.
Thank you so much!! As you can tell I don't even know what type camera I have. It was recommended so I bought a used one. I know I have a big learning curve to look forward to and expect to learn a great deal from you all. Thanks for being patient with me as I start this journey.

A good purchase would be the Nikon 24-70 f2.8 G ED. It is not the current edition, so you should be able to find it at B&H for a much lower price than the original sale price of $1799. This would be a good start. Note: You really don't need vr with a short zoom like this. Another couple of suggestions would be the 50mm f1.8D ($134) and the 85mm f1.8 ($499).
the AF-S Nikkor 14–24mm f/2.8G ED, the AF-S Nikkor 24–70mm f/2.8G ED, and the AF-S Nikkor 70–200mm f/2.8G ED VR II
It’ll set you back $6.5k ....

The Nikon D810 is a very capable, full-frame camera. I would strongly suggest using FF lenses on it. I use a 24-70 f/2.8; a 70-200 f/2.8; a 200-500 f/5.6; and a 105 f2.8 micro. All are good quality and produce outstanding images.
The lens you are asking about is a DX lens and that means it should not be used with a camera like the D810 which is an FX body. That lens would be a good match for the D500 which is a cropped sensor body better known in Nikon terminology as a DX body. You could be better served with the 24-120 f4 VR as your walk around lens.
There are many lenses that will fit your camera but before buying make sure you know what you will use the lens for or which are the subjects you shoot more often. To give you just one example, if you like to shoot portraits you DO NOT need a wide angle.
That depends on your budget and what you want to photograph. If I could only choose one lens it would be the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 FL. The following lenses would be Nikon 24-70 f/2.8, Nikon 14-24 f/2.8, Nikon 105G f/2.8, Nikon 300mm f/2.8. Have fun. The D810 is a really good camera.
the 24-120 would be a great lens for you, 95% of all my images are shot in this range
The member who said the 28-300 mm is dreadful must have a bad copy...I find it superb
