Linda is right...creating something new out of something you already have can be a lot of fun. (Just remember to use "save as" instead of "save.")
There are quite a few talented users on UHH that have created some beautiful works and not only post them, but many share step by step instructions including the original picture and the different "tweaks" they used.
Check out this link here on UHH for many examples of what can be done:
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-526718-1.htmlAnd to the users who say they destroyed a beautiful image, not true; as I said earlier, as long as you use "save as," you've created a different type of eye candy without destroying the original image.
Do what YOU like, and share if YOU like.

Not a fan. However, the knowledge of how to manipulate the second photo is very good.
The only opinion that matters is yours. If somebody does not like sunsets do you not take a sunset shot. That is the wonderful thing about photography. Keep doing what you're doing and have fun doing it.

I would say, don't stop! You may make an image that is just tooooo good, and it would be a perfect abstract sell. In other words....KEEP EXPERIMENTING!!!
Rich...
I prefer natural colors but that is me. If you like what you see to me that is what is important.
We are all different and we all have different tastes.
Coloring outside the lines can be fun. Who knows, your abstract might make a good background for another image.
If doing it keeps you off the streets at night... go for it!

i prefer the original, boberic, but what really matters is to do what you like and have fun doing it.
I prefer the original, but if you like it and enjoy the abstract for your own enjoyment just go for it.
Interesting...there was a time that I would have put the second one on my bedroom wall as a poster along with my black-light.
Worth doing again and again, until it moves you. Almost all creative beginnings don't look very good. If it interests you, keep pushing it. It will eventually take you beyond the point where you have to ask if it is worth doing.

Thanks all. Just maybe, some of my "deletes" might have a new life. I guess it's a harmless thing. I think I will continue. Maybe i'll post some.

I second the motion.
Op-Art is an acquired taste. Many people will not stop to appreciate even the source. But there are many who do.
