Although I live in Washington State, I have never spent any time in Walla Walla. I have only passed through a couple of times. I will be there for a week on a work assignment at the end of the month and wondered if anyone here had any suggestions regarding photo ops. I will have early mornings and evenings free.
Whitman College has some iconic buildings. The rolling wheat fields east of Walla2 are scenic. Drive towards Dayton and Waitsburg. Kooskooskie is an area in the Blue Mountains that can be gorgeous. There are lots of wineries and grapes fields. The Marcus Whitman hotel is old, but restored. The Whitman Mission National Historic site can be interesting too.
College Cellars, on the east side of town, is a branch of the Community College. They teach wine making and have a tasting room, usually with relatively good bargains.

If you're driving by the Palouse Falls, it's worth a stop by. The Palouse area itself offers interesting scenery.
You would definitely enjoy the Palouse countryside if you have the time. Was there last year. Had a great time.

WW--lived their for 25 years. Pioneer Park has some wonderful old trees. The Whitman College campus has some great sculptures that are beautiful in very early morning light. The Amphitheater, hidden in the southeast part of the Whitman College Campus, can be a beautiful setting for a portrait of a friend when the light is good. There are some great old homes in the neighborhood surrounding the WC campus, like Alvarado Street. The Baker home on the south side of the campus provides a lot of opportunities for interesting shots. At this time of the year just outside of town you can find rolling farmland with the wheat up some. Taken in the right light these rolling farmlands are beautiful. I second a comment about Palouse Falls. There is a great photography spot adjacent to the parking lot. However, please take care if you decide to hike nearer the falls as too many people have fallen to their deaths trying to get real close to the falls. Have fun in WW and make sure you taste some of the great wines available.
Just returned from the area. One of the best finds for me is in Pendleton Or. which was pendleton under ground. In the 1800 hundreds the Chinese were brought in to build the railroad. This was built for their safety and living. @15.00 for a two hour tour, well worth the price. Rather dark, my photos were with a high iso or one can use flash. also included in tour was the brothels from the time. To me was well worth the time. Enjoy your trip.
