The majority of the images I have seen were Getty images, AP pool images. Here is a link to a CNN gigapixel link that is pretty neat

No, even if I would be there, I would not waste any shots on that!

Well ...... that's sad to hear old fella ! I guess if I lived in Grangeville, Idaho, and so close to the magnificent splendour of the Rockies and the north west of your country, I wouldn't "waste any shots" on squirrels, little birdies and spiders in my own back yard !

Chacun à son goût mon ami ..... !!

Oh, and Peter, a magnificent event, in keeping with our fine history of televising events that are seen world-wide, but an event best seen overall on tv. It's no fun being in huge crowds hoping to "snatch a shot in an instant" .... the tv coverage gives a fuller, much more rounded overview for those who can't, or don't wish to, enjoy the spectacle first-hand.

I agree. The same was true with the America's Cup races in San Francisco. From the shore it was about as exciting as watching paint dry. I did watch paint dry once, well actually I was painting my house while watching a three day cricket test match. They seemed to go well together!

Mmm ....... even sailing yachts don't seem the same any more ! Those things they're driving (sorry sailing) these days seem just built for speed ........ but again, how easy is that to see from the shore? I remember seeing a little of it, but the tv coverage would have attracted me much more than standing on the shore.

Test matches are scheduled for 5 days ........ so for it to have been all over in 3 means there must have been a modicum of excitement ....... "one-dayers" seem to the ones attracting the crowds these days !

Nice pics on the BBC website released today of the "traditional royal family wedding" ....... the kids kinda stole the show on one of them !

Perhaps it was five days. It's been a long time since I lived in Cumbria, or Cumberland.

In bed in San Francisco when the wedding actually happened, and then later in the day with my mother-in-law at an event she helps support.

Well, the America's cup vessels today are like F1 racing cars. Fast, impressively fast when you see them in real life, but impractical. They wouldn't sail out of the bay under the golden gate bridge into the ocean, the conditions are too harsh for them. The image I first posted was taken from the shore, that was the point of holding the race in the SF bay. This one is of the shore (or city), not captured by me although it includes me and my brother-in-law from Bergen, with San Francisco and Alcatraz in the background from a friend's vessel. They were visiting for a while and have just finished circumnavigating the pacific in an ocean going trimaran, and are currently heading south to Mexico.

So true, I would have liked to meet you and to shake your hand, good Sir!
