Flipping the Glass Ball

I went to a local park today to scout for a photo shoot. While there I took this shot with a glass 3.25 in glass ball. I did some standard edits as far as brightness and clarity in photoshop.
The main thing I did was to flip the glass ball vertically so the ball image would be right side up. I first made a duplicate layer and added a mask. Got my brush tool and set it to black with a hard edge. With the mask selected I made the brush as close to the same size as the ball and hit it once that knocked it out. I then hit command I to inverse the layer. Then hit command T to rotate and place the ball over the base layer. It was a bit to small so increased the width and hight to 103%. I feathered the edge by selecting the mask and going to Window> Properties and setting the feather to 1.7 px. Last thing I did was to address some sun flares in the glass.
Any comments welcome?

Pretty neat. That gives me a few ideas. Were does one find such a ball?

That works for me. I never did care for the inverted look that the originals have, whether it's the ball image or the background that's inverted.

I agree I also don't like the inverted image. This works and is not to hard to do. A cheep wide angle, fish eye lens supplement.

“Hit it once that knocked it out”? Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean.

When you have the brush tool over the area you want click with mouse one time only. Be careful not to move the mouse. If you do you will have to unlink the mask to the photo in that layer and move the mask around to cover the ball. If I am still not clear PM me and I will share phone numbers to walk you through the process.

I think it's a great idea and turned out very well Jim. Always interesting to see different ways to present an image. Bev
