For those that live in or near NY City. We were all focused on photography. One question I forgot to ask about was the weather. Is September a good time of year to visit NY City. I figured I didn't want to be there in the heat of the summer, and surly not in the cold of winter.

September can be beautiful, or stormy, or hot or cold, doesn't matter, NYC is the greatest photo op, even though those of us who live there get so used to it we need outsiders to open our eyes, I've been travelling and working in the City since 61, lived within the legal city ( except for Navy time) all my life, you do get used to it, and yet there are still things I'd like to see that I never got to, Bob.

Where do you get the helicopter from?
I boarded it at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport I don't remember the tour company, but it may have been this one: https://manhattanhelicopters.com/. I flew in 2004, so who knows what changes have been made in the tour companies since then. Check the flyers in the hotel lobby.

I figured trying to find a parking place would be a big problem so will rely on public transportation.

Smart! My wife was raised in Brooklyn, so we drove there at least once a year for twenty years {until her Dad died and her Mom moved to FL}. I drove into what locals call "the city" once - when her sister got married {in a Greenwich Village loft}. Never again!!

added comment: even driving in Brooklyn is no fun. For one thing, there is no available street parking, so delivery trucks {to grocery store or brown truck presumably delivering camera gear} just stop in the middle of the street. After my parents visited her parents, my Dad asked "Don't they have laws against double parking?" Answer: "Yes .... so?"
