We have been bicycling all over the island this trip and had many photo ops, but the flying birds are always a surprise. Yesterday we made a rest room stop near the beach and I had a chance to see the pelicans flying towards us. These posts are the result. I am using a rented Sony 70 - 200 f2.8 GM lens and it works well with my Sony body. The posts are crops with shadows lightened.

Nice ones, Mike. They must have been high up! Do you think you'll purchase this lens at some point? With pelican photos I'm always reminded of someone having said to me, "They fly just for the joy of it."

Thanks for looking Linda. You are correct, this is a big crop. I intended to try a Tamron 150 - 600 but it turned out the mount was not compatible, so this was a substitute. If I go for less than a big reach, I think I will look at the Sony 100-400 GM lens first.

Thanks for looking Angela. These were about 150 feet away. My posts are heavily cropped.
