If you are talking about the older manual focus Nikkor 50mm f/1.4, I have found it to be one of my favorite lens on my D850. Nikon still offers it as a special order item. That lens seems to like my D850 more than it liked me D7100 for some reason; I have used it on both bodies.
I have 2 of them and they are good. As for $100 it must be in excellent condition.

Ok I am confused, are you saying that you payed $100.00 for the 50 1.4 lens? That is a great price.Adorama has them for $400 or so.Where did you get it for that price, may I ask?

I use mine regularly on my Full-Frame Nikons. It is widely known to be a super sharp, crisp and snappy lens.
Mine is a single coated 50mm f1.4 S. It performs to perfection.
I love mine. Use it all the time !
I didn't ask the question, but I appreciate the responses. I have an extra one that was in storage for awhile. When I checked it recently, it had a bit of an odd feel when focusing (no other issues). Sounds like it would be worth the $$ to get the helicoids serviced or (since it is a duplicate) trying to follow some of the on-line instructions to do it myself. I repair clarinets as a hobby, so already have most of the appropriate tools. Those have to be among my favorite lenses, too, and as a manual focus lens it is pretty straight forward.
They call it the "nifty-fifty" for a reason--it's a good lens. It's the only lens I take to back up my walk around lens on my d7100. I get really superior low light shots as well as people shots and it's easy to haul around. The $100 price is just an added bonus as long as it works as advertiese.

That is a great price if it's new. Nikon has been selling the same model of lens from 1984.
