This was such a pretty and unexpected shot I took on a drive through Arizona. It was real pretty, but still a challenge to make it special. Please give it a try try!

Please feel free to download the image and edit it any way you wish. When you are done with your edit, post the edit in this thread. On Thursday evening at 9pm we will change from editing to voting. At that point no more edits will be accepted. Thank you all and have a lot of fun editing. Your efforts are appreciated.

Alas, starting from a JPEG does limit the edit options.

Well, here's my shot at it. Nothing overly spectacular, but it was fun working on it.

I don't do many Black & Whites but this one was suited for it.

After trying several options, I decided to go "artsy" on this one in Lightroom and Topaz.

All I did was brighten it a bit and warm up the tone of the snow. Our strong AZ lighting makes harsh shadows, so I wanted to emphasize them a bit.

(A side note: Interesting that even though I check the "store original" box, when posted it doesn't allow for a download?) On my screen it looked brighter than it does here.

Wow, there are a lot of fantastic edits posted. I thought I would go for a black and white look only to find that I'm coming a bit late to the party. So, I stayed with the black and white, but played around with it a bit in NIK suite. A touch of midnight seemed appropriate.

Looks like midnight under a full moon.

Yes, it does. I've done some winter camping in the past in the mountains and it is amazing how bright the moon can be on a cloudless night with snow cover. I had not thought of that; but I think it is a good observation.

O.K.!
you got me!

Although I have a general antipathy to “texture” overlays, and the wide variety of artsy-fartzy so-called artistic effects available from a wide variety of plug-ins this one caught my admiring attention!

Really cool, with definite book cover potench!
